Accomplishment in 2025

  • The LLC Replaced the back screen door of the patio.
  • Conservation for wildlife was done (mowing)
  • Purchased a new BBQ grill
  • Major Land Clearing-LLC has embarked on phases for clearing farms. This was headed by Elvie Barlow Jr. Phase 1 has cleared the area near the entrance of the farm.
  • The gatherings and family reunions on the Fourth of July, and Thanksgiving have been successful throughout the years, on the farm. The LLC Board and family will look for ways to include agritourism and extend the events and activities so more family members can attend.
  • LLC applied for grants to promote conservation projects on the farm. We have met criteria for the application and have diligently worked to respond to all requirements. However, LLC was not successful in being awarded a grant this year.
  • The TS Historic Farm has continued work in conservation with the USDA, and the Conservation Stewardship Program. The USDA has increased the minimum annual payment for the conservation stewardship program from $1,500 to $4,000 starting in 2025. A total of $4,000 per year will be paid over the next 5 years for this program.

 

 

2026 Goals

  • Improve family participation in the work being done on the farm. Meetings with the younger generation for ideas and contributions/participation will be encouraged. 
  • robust effort will be giving to improve wildlife and wetland conservation on the farm.
  • Establish a land trust for the farm that outlines the collective mandates of the 5th and 6th generations of the TS family.  
  • Continue work on the farmhouse and grounds.  
  • Promote and encourage actual small business venture ideas by family members (i.e., agritourism).  
  • Develop plans to promote the historic part of the farmi.e., walking trails and clear the area around historical water well.  
  • Create a foundation in memory of our ancestors, to help accentuate the positive values they lived by, as farmers in Georgia. The foundation should be available for families but look to branch out to help with surrounding community endeavors 
  • Become active in farm cooperative groups.
