Welcome
The Titus Stephens Historical Farm is a 99-acre family-owned farm located in Southwest Georgia. The farm has been in existence in the family since post-Civil War times. In seasons past, emphasis was on survival through farming and agriculture. The farm now aims to exist as a vehicle to show the historical contributions of the Black family farmer, as well as connect to the community and global economic structure.
The farm exists to exemplify beauty
- The beauty of family through the use of responsibility and inclusivity.
- The beauty of community through shared connections, education and outreach initiatives.
- The beauty of nature through the use of conservation and farm preservation practices.

Mission Statement: We are dedicated to continuing the heritage of our ancestors; to show the duty of family, the value of Black land ownership, and the respect and preservation of natural resources.
Our Vision
To preserve and maintain a sustainable historical Black farm for future generations; and honor our history through: outreach programs, education, agritourism and a living history museum.

100 Acres and a Museum Project
A major part of our vision for agritourism is having a museum. We want visitors to experience farm activities. A portion of the farm is now being used as a venue for hosting outdoor events and recreation. Our plan is to house artifacts for the museum. Currently, we are in the early stages of developing this project.

Agriculture
We remain a working farm where corn, cotton, and peanuts are harvested. We are proud that our farm continues to have a role in producing food for tables and producing cotton for goods across the country.

Land Preservation
We participate in programs by USDA to preserve and manage land. We understand the value of land. We want to bring awareness of the environment and proper ways to ensure that we continue to be enriched by natural resources.
Brief History

In the 1850’s Titus Stephens Sr., as a slave, lived and raised his family on the farm. In 1870, he acquired the land from his former owner.
Today, 5th generation descendants of Titus Stephens Sr. still reside on and maintain the property.
In 2013, the farm was designated by the State of Georgia Department of Agriculture as a centennial family farm (farms that have remained in the same family for 100 years).
Today, the Titus Stephens Historical Farm is honoring and celebrating its history through agritourism initiatives. As part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation program, the farm is addressing natural resource practices including wetland preservation and wildlife conservation.
